I’m sorry, I’m so so sorry…

Ok, maybe not that sorry, but you catch my drift.

Hi my hot cute girly geeks and boy geeks of course. As you all know, I’m still freakishly busy with work, my English CPE studies, and 2 different mandatory courses from work.

Yeah, I’m not a happy camper at the moment. Luckily I had my first exam last Saturday and I think it went well. Just a tad bit careful, I want my marks back before I go out celebrating.

Now, seeing as the 12th of June is my writing exam and a good part of this exam is writing an essay / review / article, I need to practice. And what better way is using my blog to do said practice.

I know I still make grammar errors, so don’t go busting my ass if I make mistakes in my posts, but I’m going to try to blog at least once every two days during weekdays.

But I also want to make it up to you. I will host an epic give away at the end of June. June 19th to be precise.

Seeing as I hate raffle copter give-aways I want to try something different. On the morning of the 19th of June at 11.00 AM my time I will post my give away post. And you can leave a comment to said blog post. I will give away 3 prices.

First price is a self knitted hat or tablet cosy which you can choose from my Etsy web shop, and second price will be a self-knitted phone cosy, which you can also choose from my web shop. I’m still thinking about an epic third price, maybe, something Tekira makes. She is creative as well. But I have to talk to her about it.

The most original comments will win prices and the winners will be picked by Tekira and myself. The give away will be open until the 30th of June 11 pm Dutchie time. Oh and one important detail, you have to be following me on this blog. You can share all you want (yes please), but it won’t make any difference in your chances of winning.

The give away will be opened worldwide.

So how about that. I for one think it’s very cool.

Here’s to me sticking to new found resolutions, and hope to see you soon.

And I’ll leave you with this epic parody by the Hillywood show, dancing Doctor Who.

Love, your own hot cute girly geek Mendy.

The Great British Sherlock Read Off – Reading Order

I’ve been approached to provide a monthly Reading List to help people follow my progress on this challenge or to participate, either alongside me or on their own.  Unfortunately, due to  the way that I read along with “real life”, this could prove difficult as I am trying to maintain interest in this challenge by mingling my Holmes reads alongside my main reading challenge reads.

However, after a little research, I have made the decision to attempt to read the stories in publication order as follows:

A STUDY IN SCARLET – COMPLETED
THE SIGN OF FOUR

THE ADVENTURES OF SHERLOCK HOLMES

A Scandal in Bohemia
The Red-headed League
A Case of Identity
The Boscombe Valley Mystery

The Speckled Band
The Engineer’s Thumb
The Noble Bachelor
The Beryl Coronet
The Copper Beeches

The Adventure of Black Peter
Charles Augustus Milverton
The Six Napoleons
The Three Students
The Golden Pince-Nez

“The Game Is On!!!”

I’m back!!!

Hi my hot cute girly geeks and boy geeks of course. I’m back, well duh, otherwise you wouldn’t be reading this post.

I'm Back

So what happened? Well, NaNoWriMo, my birthday, busy at work, studying, busy at home, things and stuff (sorry couldn’t resist the Walking Dead reference).

But the main thing is that I’m back, and I will be writing regular blog posts again. First of all an apology to my fellow bloggers who prepared geeky Christmas gifts for you guys, but I was late with my list, thus means, you will not be getting geeky Christmas ideas, I mean, if you have to buy Christmas gifts at this point in time, you’re late!

Not to worry, I’m keeping the lists and you will get them in a couple of weeks, just in time for valentine!

Second of all, apologies to all the nice people who emailed me about blog tours, promotions and books I received. I’m in the process of reading all my emails (about 400 of them), and you will get a reply this week. Don’t worry.

Last, not an apology, but more of a f*ck you to people posting nasty comments. Look, I’m writing this blog for fun, I have a day job and a household to run, I’m busy. And I’m Dutch, as in, English isn’t my native language. Sometimes spelling and grammar mistakes happen. Nobody is forcing you to read my blog. If you haven’t got anything nice to say, just shut up.

YouSuck

Ok, now that is out of my system. I’m still working on rearranging my blog; some features will disappear next year, like the vlogging and YouTube Sunday. I’m still waiting for the artwork to update my blog and make it geekier! Be patient about it. It will come soon.

Saying this, I’m still looking for a couple of more bloggers. If you want a more permanent spot and you have time to write at least 2 posts a month, you’re more than welcome to contact me.

smaug-eye-guardiantvFor now, this was a quick update, and over the next couple of days you’ll be getting more posts. How about a Hobbit, the desolation of Smaug review. Going back to watching all the supernatural seasons, so more reviews. A NaNoWriMo book review, epic birthday, or how to throw a whovian party with some cool ideas. Sherlock is coming back, so expect some sobbing and ranting, and a new museum tour.

And a last request, 2014 is just around the corner, what are you geeks looking forward to? Besides Sherlock coming back, what plans do you have for 2014, New Year’s resolutions, tell us!

Lots of love, your own hot cute girly geek, Mendy

Help needed from my lovely geeks.

Hi hot cute girly geeks, a quick post from me today. I still don’t feel well. And there’s a reason for that. I have rheumatism and also a lower back hernia. This causes me a lot of pain. And because of the pain I don’t sleep well so I am tired a lot. I work half days at the moment, but all the extra time I have left I need to lie down. I am used to the everyday pain from my rheumatism, the hernia is striking me down at the moment and there is where your help comes in my lovely geeks.

I need some temporary guest bloggers, who will want to do one or more guest blogs till I start feeling better.

So if you want to promote your new book, went to the cinema and saw an awesome geeky movie, read a fantastic geeky book, have a incredible idea for a geeky post, and especially if you have a great idea for a top 10, for my top 10 on Thursdays contact me.

You can do so by responding on this post, twitter or DM me @hotcutegrlygeek, or mail me at hotcutegirlygeek@gmail.com

7 things about me:

  1. Although I love all thinks geeky, I have a secret passion for cheerleader movies. I know, it’s not geeky, but I just love them. The perky cheerleaders, the nasty bitch fighting and all ends well. My favorite? Bring it on.
  2. My day job. I am a social worker who works with hard drugs addicts and homeless people. Although it’s a hard job, I really like it and it is truly my passion.
  3. I want to be a writer some day. I write stories since I was about 10 years of age, all about vampires and I hope someday to write my own book. The story is there, but now I have to put it in writing.
  4. I love to cook and bake. I don’t cook often since I live alone, but I can cook almost anything. Italian from scratch (including making the pasta), Indonesian, you name it. I also like to bake cakes, cupcakes, pies, brownies, anything sweet.
  5. I’m really clumsy, I trip over my own feet, bump in things, fall down, a lot. And I end up in the hospital ER a lot because of it, tearing ligaments and stuff, but somehow, I never break a thing. And my friends find it hilarious.
