The Vampire Chronicles- Anne Rice via Camgal

Hey Hot Cute Girly Geeks!

Wow its been ages. Luckily, Mendy requested that I do my Vampire Chronicles post on the hot cute girly geek site, so here it is…with some additions. (Refer to for the original post).

Interview with the Vampire

Written by Anne Rice in 1976 is a debut gothic horror/vampire novel. It centers on vampire Louis de Pointe du Lacwho tellls the story of his life to a reporter. A film adaptation starring Brad Pitt, Kirsten Dunst, Antonio Banderas,Christian Slater and Tom Cruise, was released 18 years after Anne had published the book.

Louis was a young indigo plantation owner. He was distraught/crazed with the death of his pious brother. Whilst seeking possible ways to die, Louis is approached by the vampire Lestat  who desires his company and though Louis begs Lestat to end his miserable existence, Lestat turns Louis into a creature of the night like himself. Lestat feeds on the plantation slaves while Louis, who is morally upright, decides to become a vegetarian (so to speak) and feeds from animals. Louis tries to defy his new nature but later begins to bend under Lestat’s influence, he starts feeding from humans. As he slowly comes to term with what he has become, he becomes increasingly repulsed by Lestat’s total lack of compassions for the humans he sees merely as prey.

With the introduction of Claudia, a girl Lestat turns into a vampire to make Louis stay on as his companion, the books twists and turns become more obscure. Claudia realizes she can never grow up and Louis dotes on her like a Father would on his only female child. They attempt to destroy Lestat severally and go in search of other old world vampires like themselves. Its not until they reach Paris that they find vampires like themselves- specifically, the 400 year old vampire Armand and his coven, the Theatre des Vampires.

In the coven there is one rule- Death to any vampire who kills their own kind. Louis is drawn to Armand and this makes Claudia insecure.

A lot of death follows, you can feel the betrayal, insecurities, love and the humanity that can never die no matter what kind of monster we choose to become. I f you haven’t read the book, do.

The Vampire Lestat

Written by Anne Rice in 1985, the Vampire Lestat is preceded by Interview with the Vampire and in my opinion is my best read from the Vampire Chronicles. The story is about 200 year long life of the vampire Lestat de Lioncourt and his rise from an impoverished aristrocrat in the countryside of France to the city of Paris to become the vain and arrogant vampire some of the readers have come to love. He escapes his family and runs off to Paris with his friend Nicolas de Lenfent. Lestat is then kidnapped and bitten by an elder vampire Magnus, who orphans him  the night he is made. Due to fear of loss, Lestat transforms his Mother to a Vampire to keep her alive. Making her his first companion.

Lestat faces a lot of near death experiences, be it from the sun or from the wrath of Enkil. He is saved by Marius who had warned him never to see Akasha and Enkil again.

The book ends on a cliffhanger and this is where I recommend it to all vampire lovers. The third volume, Queen of the Damned all the way to the last, Blood Canticle which was published in 2002 are all excellent reads as well.

Enjoy xx

Vittorio, the Vampire

One who was believed to be gone from us is now apparently known to have survived. I have strong reason to believe that Marius has gone to New Orleans, and I must be reunited with him. I must seek out Lestat, to see this fallen brat prince lying on the Chapel floor unable to speak or move………………………………Come back to New Orleans. Even if Marius is not there, I want to see Lestat…………………………..I now contain the awful capacity to want and to love. For that, if for nothing else, and there is indeed much more, I shall always thank you. No matter what suffering is to come, you have quickened me. And nothing you do or say will ever cause the death of my love for you.

Another update as promissed.

Hey guys, as promised another update on how your favorite hot cute girly geek is doing. I finally had an appointment with my surgeon and he decided to proceed on surgery because of my lower back hernia.  And it will probably take place at the end of September, beginning of October. I have to be admitted to the hospital for 4 days, but thank God, they have wifi. Seeing as most people who get this kind of surgery are almost senior citizens and I need something to preoccupy my mind with.

And when I’m released from the hospital it will take 2 months of recuperating. Meaning no work, lots of physical therapy and no sitting. Glad my couch is big enough to lie down on; otherwise I’d be confined to my bed. So what does this mean for my blog? Seeing as I can’t really sit well enough now, I still need my lovely co-geeks and co-bloggers to blog for me. I’ll try to blog once a week because I really miss ranting about my favorite TV shows and the books I’m reading, but I can’t make any promises.

I do appreciate a lot of ‘get well’ cards and presents however, once the surgery is over, lol. I’m a sucker for presents. So if you want to send some over to me (please do) just contact me trough my blog or otherwise DM me on twitter @hotcutegrlygeek and I’ll let you know where to send baskets full of goodies! Or maybe a single, hot, heterosexual male nurse will do also 😉

So hopefully around the end of this year I’ll be up and running again, blogging and hopefully participating in Gishwhes 2012!!! So, as soon as I know the date of my surgery I will let you guys know so you can entertain me through the internet.

Speaking of Gishwhes, our team still needs some members, maybe 3 or 4, so if you are interested, check out: and let me know. (in order to enter our team, you need a facebook account, questionable sanity, the ability to communicate with the other teammembers, a love of Misha Collins and/or the series Supernatural  and creativity) So contact me if you have any questions or want to be part of our team.

For now, this is my update and hope you are all enjoying my guest bloggers for the time being. I know I love them! And be sure to keep an eye out for my next blog, which will be about my latest geeky addiction, Teen Wolf!

And for my UK tweepgeeks! I’m still trying to go to London before my surgery; I’ll let you know, so maybe we could all go for a pint or two in a pub! Lol. As much as I like the internet, real life people are much better!

Love, your hot cute girly geek Mendy!

The Amazing Spider Man Finally.

Hey Hot Cute Girly Geeks,

It’s been a while I know but I’m back, if you want to know what was up with me (because it’s too long for this post) go to

Now onto today’s post. During my week off, I was able to download and watch the Amazing Spider Man. Thanks to all of you who enthusiastically posted positive feedback about the movie, I became determined to start and finish the movie. I was not disappointed *dancing*. Hmm……I would like to concur here on Andrew Garfield‘s buns of steel lol and also how awesome he was in the title role.

Now I initially thought the attraction of the movie was to find out the truth about Peter‘s parents. Who killed them? Why?How?When? and all other series of questions but it ended up remaining a reboot of the Spider man film franchise.

Spider-Man suspects Connors is the Lizard, and unsuccessfully confronts the creature in the sewers. The Lizard learns Spider-Man’s real identity and attacks Peter at school. In response, the police start a manhunt for both Spider-Man and the Lizard. The police corner Spider-Man, where Captain Stacy discovers that he is really Peter. The Lizard plans to make all humans lizard-like by releasing a chemical cloud from Oscorp‘s tower. Spider-Man eventually disperses an antidote cloud instead, restoring Connors and earlier victims to normal, but not before the Lizard fatally claws Captain Stacy. The dying Stacy makes Peter promise to keep Gwen safe by staying away from her. Peter initially does so, but later suggests to Gwen that he may see her after all.

In a post-credits scene, Connors, in a prison cell, speaks with a man in the shadows who asks if Peter knows the truth about his father. Connors replies, “No”, and demands Peter be left alone before the man disappears.1” source:

Gaming: League of Legends

Hello my hot, cute and girly geeks! Hope your Sunday is treating you well.

I have been spending today outside in the lovely weather and moved inside a few hours ago to carry on with my redecoration when I realised I hadn’t blogged anything in a while!
Yesterday I came back from my online gaming hiatus with a few rounds of League of Legends. And I figured I would tell you a little about this game which is fully playable even when you are a girl 😉

League of Legends is a real-time strategy action video game by Riot Games for Windows. (A MAC version was in talks earlier this year and I hope you will be able to join us soon!)
Your player is a Champion with different skill sets and fight types. Your Champion is the part of a game that is 1v1, 3v3 or 5v5. (Never playes 1v1 – I’m still too much of a n00b for that!) Your teams objective is to protect your Nexus and base camp while trying to break into your opponents base camp and destroy their Nexus. Appart from your team of Champions you also have minions that spawn continuosly.  There are different ways to get to your opponents base camp; through the lanes or through the jungle. The lanes are guarded by Turrents that will either shoot at you or defend you depending on what side they are on. The jungle is full of critters that you can kill for extra power-ups and bushes that you can hide in. (In the different worlds there are a different amount of lanes, 5v5 has 3 and 3v3 has 2)

Your champion has a total of 4 spells/weapons that you have to activate and level-up every time you level in-game. Every game is started at level 1, but your profile levels throughout. I think the correct word is session based. Now, I’m not an expert and I play with my younger brother who is the most bad-ass I’ve ever seen! He’s taught me two strategies to play this game, one positive and one negative. They are called “farm” and “feed”. I don’t know if these are the official ones, but they are the ones I’m going to use.
Farming is positive for your Champion and team. Basically you occupy one lane and you kill minions like there is no tomorrow. Aim at getting the killing blow as that earns you money that can be used at the shop for equiping your Champion to it’s best. This is also a really good way of ensuring leveling since just being close to a fight will grant you XP.  This works best in a lane where there is no Champion protecting it. If you are lucky the opposing team won’t see you as a threat and will change the Standard line-up. (2 on top, 1 in mid and 2 on bottom/1 top, 1 bottom and 1 jungle)
Feeding is negative for your team and is usually what I am accused of doing if I’m playing with strangers. Basically you are feeding the other team kills by being an easy target.

Basically I just play for fun and I try to not die too much. Last night I think I hit a record by actually killing 6 Champions, assisting to (maybe) 20 kills and only dying 40 times. We played four games so that is pretty good for me!

I will finish off this post by telling you which Champion I started off playing as. And I must say that the choosing/buying of Champions is probably my favourite part!

Meet Annie, the Dark Child. She is the first Champion I bought and the one I prefered playing as for the longest time. The bear behind her is Tibers and he is her Ultimate Weapon. She throws him out and he kills like a crazy machine!
She throws fireballs and she ignites stuff. She’s awesome and I enjoyed playing her for a long time. Tomorrow I will post about more Champions that I enjoy playing as now that you know the game rules! =)

Til then, Keep rocking that Geek!
xx Zandrina

Frenemy (alternately spelled “frienemy“) is a portmanteau of “friend” and “enemy” that can refer to either an enemy disguised as a friend or someone who’s both a friend and a rival.[1] The term is used to describe personal, geopolitical, and commercial relationships both among individuals and groups or institutions. The word has appeared in print as early as 1953″

Frenemies is a 2012 television film and anthology based on the novel of the same name by Alexa Young premiered on Disney Channel.[1] It features an ensemble cast of Bella Thorne, Zendaya, Stefanie Scott, Nick Robinson, and Mary Mouser.[2] The film follows three pairs of friends that go from friends to enemies and back again. Halley Brandon and Avalon Greene are two girls who have a website called GeeklyChic. The girls tell three stories. The first story is about how a kid and a dog who are best friends become frenemies and how they become best friends again. The second story is about how two BFFs become total frenemies over a senior editor job. The last story is about two lookalikes (possibly twins) who swap lives with each other, like the Prince and the Pauper.

My topic here is really GeeklyChic. The second story  is about Avalon Greene (Bella Thorne) and Halley Brandon (Zendaya) who created a web magazine called “GeeklyChic.” During school, Halley gets a call from her and Avalon’s favorite New York City publishing company run by Cherie St. Claire (Jessalyn Wanlim). Halley thinks her elder brother Kendall (Jascha Washington) is playing a prank on her until she realises she really has received a call from Cherie St. Claire. Cherie St. Claire tells them to go to the publishing company’s headquarters in Manhattan, New York to ask them something that could change their lives. During the talk, Cherie St. Claire tells Avalon and Halley that she likes their web magazine and offers to buy it, but decides to only let one of them be the senior editor. Cherie St. Claire decides to let each of them write a cover article and will judge who wrote the best article as that writer will become the senior editor. Avalon and Halley, who both want to be hired as senior editors, both decide to interview a French singer named Jean Frank after his first American sold-out concert which leads them to become frenemies. At the end, they decide that they will share the article. Cherie St. Claire becomes angry and decides not to hire either of them. The television show “Teens Now” picks up their article about Jean Frank changing his image as he was only posing as a singer from Paris, France. “Teens Now” also broadcasts their blog’s website for their audience to check out. Seeing that their web magazine has gone global on their hit counter map, Avalon and Halley make up as best friends again.” :

GeeklyChic is actually the best name for a fashionable geek clothing line I have ever heard 🙂 though it’s not a real website, it is still very cool.                Geeklychic.png

There’s a sign out I have come to love, so I’m going to use it.

As Zandrina would say, “Keep rocking that geek! xx” 😉

Nail polish tips!

Hey hot, cute and girly geeks!

I just painted my nails and since I want to give my lovely Geeks my best tips I want to tell you about what to stay away from!

I’ve used a top coat from a brand called OPI for the past months and right now I am telling you to NOT buy this top coat!
It works great the first couple of times but after a few weeks the formulation gets really thick and it just won’t dry!  I’ve ended up sitting  perfectly still for hours and then I move an inch and my nails are smudged. They might feel dry to the touch so you move around and then you look down on them and you are met by a horrific view! Every single nail is smudged or chipped!

My favourite top coat has unfortunately been discontinued and I am trying to find a replacement – if you know of any let me know! (Sally Hansen’s InstaDry was my previous favourite!)

The colour of my nails today is from a brand called Catrice and the colour is “840 Genius in the Bottle” (picture borrowed from google, own pic can be found on my instagram: zandrinamcgowan)

Keep rocking that Geek!
