Top 10 on Thursday!!! Sherlock VS Elementary part 1 and 2! Final Version!

Hi my hot cute girly and boy geeks. As you all know I did a Sherlock versus Elementary vlog a couple of weeks ago. I even talked about doing a follow-up on that vlog. And guess what. I did!

The only thing being, I forgot to post the follow-up vlog on this blog. So for the lovely geeks who follow me on YouTube, they already have seen it (or so I guess) but I left you deprived of 30 minutes of me rambling about even more Sherlock vs. Elementary.

I know I suck at editing these videos. The problem being, there was so much to talk about. But I’ll try to keep further videos shorter or better edited.

In case you missed the first video as well I’m posting both in this blog. Enjoy watching and leave a comment, or reply either on this blog or on YouTube.

Top 10 on Thursday vlog: Sherlock vs. Elementary

Hi my hot cute girly and boy geeks. I know I promised I would stick to more book reviews but this was I post I just had to write and tape.

First a warning, this video contains spoilers for both seasons of Sherlock, and there is some minor swearing by me, sorry about that.

It started with me being introduced into the world of Doctor Who. I then started watching Sherlock. In the process I talked about this with my mum. She is a big London fanatic, just like I am. So I had this plan of showing her Sherlock and trying to geekyfy my mum in the process.

Turns out I created a monster and something went wrong. Although my mum loved the series, she finds Sherlock is a freak and has more appreciation for Mycroft, ehhh ok? Then she talked to be about the movies with Robert Downing Jr and Jude Law. Without seeing them, complaining that it was a US production and therefore, bit not good. Ok, I saw them and they were fun, but I can agree to that statement. Sherlock Holmes is British and therefore must be, in my opinion, always be a British production. (Please don’t kill me for saying that.)

And then she called me about Elementary, its being shown on Dutch TV at the moment. Saying that it was a great show and that this Sherlock was just as great a freak as the BBC Sherlock was.

Now let me get one thing straight. My love for the BBC series runs deep. My love for the brilliant acting of Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman runs deep. You do not call Sherlock a freak otherwise I get this urge to punch you. Seeing as my mum made this comment, I couldn’t. But she urged me to go watch it.

Ehh, it feels like cheating, big time. But after some research and conveying with other fangirls I am currently watching Elementary. Sigh, and I just do this to get my Sherlock fix until the higher powers decide to start shooting and airing season 3. Moffat!!!

That’s what led to this vlog. I’m sorry for the long introduction but I’ll shut up now and start comparing.

Love, your own hot cute girly geek

Ps: take a look at my other vlogs, cause I don’t always post a copy on my blog: https://www.youtube.com/user/Hotcutegirlygeek/videos?view=0&flow=grid

Top 10 on Thursday!!! Top 10 hottest captains in sci-fi and fantasy!

Hi my hot cute girly and boy geeks, it’s time for another top 10 list and this time it’s time for the top 10 hottest captains you see on screen in sci-fi and fantasy.

Did you know how hard it is to find hot captains? Or captains that are actually called captain? So I cheated with one, because I found that he deserved a spot in my list. So enjoy!

10     Captain America (the Avengers) Chris Evans: Like I said, it was hard to find hot captains, but seeing as my internet friends are fangirling about him, I added this one to the list, and admitted, he is cute, but not my kind of captain 😉chris-evans-captain-america-21

09     Captain Kirk (Star Trek: the Future begins) Chris Pine: Again the same thing as number 10, but if I had to chose between the original captain Kirk and the new one, give me this one please.chris-pine-kirk

08     Captain Jean-Luc Picard (Star Trek) Patrick Steward: Ok, how can you go wrong with captain Picard, I know he is old and bald, but the guy has charisma, and that accent and the tea, earl grey, hot.b89f31a85da7290ddecdad44f2628c17e208901f

07     Han Solo (Star Wars) Harrison Ford: With this one I cheated. Harrison Ford did look good back in the days and wouldn’t you want to go on a flight in his space ship?

06     Captain Hook (Peter Pan 2003) Jason Isaacs: I’m a huge Peter Pan fan, doesn’t matter what version I love them all. If it’s the Disney classic, the movie Hook, return to Neverland or the movie Peter Pan, have you seen this man’s eyes!

05     Captain John Hart (Torchwood) James Marsters: How can you possible go wrong with James. I fell in love with him on Buffy, oh Spike. And I was surprised to see him on Torchwood, KISSING!!!! Another hot captain, hell yeah for fanfiction explosion.

04     Captain Malcom ‘Mal’ Reynolds (Firefly) Nathan Fillion: Oh Nathan, one of the cutest captains. What can I possible say more, just look at him…

03     Captain Jack Sparrow (Pirates of the Caribbean) Johhny Depp: This captain got bumped to the 3rd spot just because of the fact that I imagine he doesn’t smell nice, yep that’s a weird reason. I mean, it’s Johnny Depp and even dressed as a drunk Keith Richards look-a-like pirate, he still managed to be hot.

02     Captain Hook (Once upon a time) Colin O’Donoghue: If you haven’t already watched Once Upon a Time, I urge you to do so. The series is brilliant and this captain Hook is really, really hot, and young, and his eyes, and the accent and… this can go on for hours.

01     Captain Jack Harkness (Torchwood / Doctor Who) John Barrowman: Obviously the number 1 in my list. Captain, immortal, hot, sexy, cute, sassy, sexy, funny, sexy, companion, con-man, omnisexual, 51st century pheromones, sexy, award winning smile, stuck in our time-line, long grey coat, sexy. Well you get the picture.

Top 10 on Thursday!!! 10 Geeky series you should watch!

Hi my hot cute girly and boy geeks. It’s been a while since I did a top 10 on Thursday, but as you know it, life happens, and knitting a 12 feet long Doctor Who scarf, pictures will follow soon, almost done, just have to do the tassels and then I’m done, thank god! It took me a month. I started the 30th of October and I will finish adding the tassels tomorrow. But for now, I give you a top ten list of geeky shows you have to watch. Most are on TV right now or we have a hiatus and a new season will start soon. Oh and this review contains spoilers. So without further ado, my top 10:

Ok I cheated a little bit with number 10, a shared place for Arrow and Revolution:

10 Arrow:  This is a new show which started airing this year. And it’s a sort of modern day Robin Hood, meets Castaway and it also has John Barrowman in it. For me all the reasons to watch, although I don’t think the show is super awesome, it’s still nice to watch.

Revolution: What if the world has no more power? Then we get a crossover from a post apocalyptic world which reminds me a little of the Postman and Waterworld, meets Jericho. But wait; maybe we can restore the power but what if the bad guys get it. Ok, I loved Jericho far better than this one and the fact that Sherriff Swan from Twilight has a lead role in it is strange to watch. But still, a nice show which also started this year.

9 Teen Wolf: If you’re from the ’80 like me or even older, you must have watched teen wolf the movie, which is adapted into a series by MTV. Great cast, great music, cool werewolves, amazing story. How do you hide a pack of werewolves in a small American town? Add some hunters in the mix, a lot of hormones and teen angst and you have a great show. The first two seasons only had 12 episodes, but season 3 will have the double amount and I am looking forward to watching it next year.

8 Game of Thrones: Amazing books by George RR Martin, adapted in a series, where everybody dies, everybody has sex with everybody, amazing fighting scenes, blood, gore, strong female lead roles, nice men to watch, intrigues, gossip and backstabbing. Currently waiting for season 3 to start next year, so be sure to watch the previous seasons and my advice? Read the books first and then watch the series. It makes a lot more sense then.

7 The Vampire Diaries: Let me tell you, the books suck, but the series is awesome. Although I feel it could be a little less young adult and more adult, if you know what I mean, (I mean hot steamy scenes with Damon wearing no shirt, hint hint) one of the main reasons I watch. And be serious. Season 5 of True Blood sucked (pun intended) and season 4 of the Vampire Diaries is for me still a reason to keep watching.

6 Lost Girl: They promote this show with you got vampires and werewolves we have a succubus. Also a lot of fairytale creatures and a succubus looking to uncover her past, with a hot werewolf by her side and a quirky human girl. It’s funny, it’s sexy, it’s hot and season 3 starts in January 2013

5 Once Upon a Time: I discovered this jewel a couple of days ago and I watched season 1 so far. Fairytales are the new thing, next to all the vampires and werewolves and I love it. It gives  a nice little twist to the fairytales we know and some we don’t know as well. Also, fairytale creatures in modern day life, without them knowing it? It’s a great twist and what got me hooked. Currently airing in the US in its second season, and it starts on Dutch TV in a couple of days.

4 The Walking Dead: Zombies, Zombies, Zombies. What if we have a worldwide plague of Zombies and a few groups of survivors, fighting to the death to deal with it? Yep, addictive as hell. That and the zombies are really gruesome. Awesome special effects, we are in the middle of season 3, so if you haven’t start watching yet, you can catch up quite a lot. Although the seasons are short, they are worth it.

3 Supernatural: Hello, season gr8! Although some of the new episodes can be a drag. It’s supernatural, a show with two brothers fighting demons, hunting things and doing a lot of ganking. Ok they kill a lot of main characters which leave you sobbing on the couch, but the cast is amazing. Yes season 8 is also known as the Crowley show. Look at past blogs of mine, GO WATCH IT, ITS AWESOME!!!

2 Sherlock: I started watching this show a couple of weeks ago and I am hooked. But then again, it’s written by Steven Moffat so it has to be brilliant. I even did a review last week. So why should you watch it, because there are a dozen of different versions of the story of Sherlock Holmes. Well, this one sets in modern day London, it’s brilliantly cast, the dialogues are amazing and it makes awesome use of modern day techniques and I love it! You can pick up season 1 and 2. The only thing is we have to wait a while for season 3. It was supposed to air sometime around May next year, but rumor online it that it may well be postponed to 2014. Damn you Moffat!!!

1 Doctor Who: You should by now know I’m a huge Doctor Who fan, although I started watching a couple of months ago, I still wonder how I survived my life for that long without the Doctor. So why should you watch? Well, it’s the longest running series on the BBC and next year Doctor Who will celebrate its 50th birthday. It’s suppose to be a children’s series, but as an adult I immensely enjoy it/ It’s hard to explain, but Doctor Who is brilliant, exciting, funny, loving, maddening, scary, emotional, beautiful, amazing, magnificent, terrifying, frustrating and I could go on for hours like that. Just watch it! Currently in the new season, season 7 and we are in a midwinter stop. The new episode starts at Christmas and from the previews I’ve seen, I’ll never build a snowman ever again. Damn you Moffat!!!

I hope you liked my top 10 list, until next time.

Top 10 on Thursday, top 10 fantasy books/book series I love

Hi hot cute girly and boy geeks of mine.

It’s Thursday again, and that means another list. This time a list of fantasy books or series I love.

10 LonTobyn Chronicles by David B. Coe:  A lovely trilogy about magicians with hawks and owls trying to rule their country and help their people.

09 The Lord of the Rings (and the hobbit) by J.R.R. Tolkien: If I have to explain these books, you have been living under a rock.

08 The Harry Potter books by J.K. Rowling: Same goes for the Harry Potter books. If you haven’t read them yet, please put your life on hold and buy the books and read them!

07 Watch tetralogy by Sergey Lukyanenko: not sure if this qualifies as fantasy, but a great serie of novels by a Russian author about the always ongoing war between good and evil.

06 The Kingkiller chronicle by Patrick Rothfuss: little strange, these books but it’s about the autobiography of Kvothe (fictional character ofcourse) and his travels as an adventurer, arcanist, and famous musician

05 The Sevenwaters trilogy by Juliet Marilier: This isn’t a trilogy anymore, but it’s the story of the fairytale “the six swans” and I just read them over and over again.

04 Wolfking by Bridget Wood: Amazing, disturbing, sexy, hot, crazy story based upon Irish mythology. And I mean that! The hill of Tara and the Lia Fáil (Stone of Destiny) can still be found in Ireland and I have been there.

03 The Farseer trilogy, Liveship traders trilogy, the Tawny Man trilogy, the Rain Wilds trilogy by Robin Hobb: I love almost all books by Robin Hobb. The fact that all these trilogies make one big story is amazing, but you can also read them as just separate trilogies. I love books about dragons and I highly recommend you start reading those books!

02 Kushiels Legacy by Jacqueline Carey: Sexy, politically based fantasy books about a prostitute with a kinky French edge. An absolute must read. Also infused with some Celtic mythology.

01 The Passage by Justin Cronin: Ok I cheated with this one. Not really a fantasy book, but more a post apocalyptic story with vampires. I don’t scare easy, but this book gave me a lot of nightmares when I was reading it. I’m still debating on whether to read it a second time, just because of the nightmares, but it was an awesome book

I hope you pick up some of these suggestions, oh and some of the pictures are the Dutch covers, because I think they look prettier.

Love, your hot cute girly geek, Mendy.

Top 10 on Thursday, 10 most awful Vampire Movies!!!

Hi hot cute girly and boy geeks of mine. My headache finally cleared, so there is still a blog to write. This time, the worst vampire movies ever. There are a lot of vampire movies made. Some are great, some are romantic, some are scary and some just suck. (No pun intended) So here is my list:

10. Buffy the vampire slayer. I love the series, but this movie sucked! I know Rutger Hauer is a big Dutch movie star, but he’s so old! And the dying scene of the evil minion, what’s that about. Just drop dead, don’t moan about it for 15 minutes. And what the hell is Donald Sutherland doing in this movie! It just looks like an infomercial for an old people’s home.

09. Vampire in Brooklyn. Oh my, where do I start? Eddy Murphy as vampire? Not hot. Fake Transylvanian accent? Not hot. Caribbean vampires? How do vampires survive in the Caribbean? Nope, not watching this one ever again.

08. Blood angels (aka Thralls). Sorry I ever spend money on buying this DVD. It’s just some cheap movie trying to sell nearly naked woman and oh, let’s put the devil in it. Oh and the vampires run a club. Major suckage.

07. Cirque du freak. I’m a fan of the Darren Shan books. There new, cool and for kids. Love the stories. But this movie. They totally raped the first novel! And that CGI spider. People, if you haven’t got the money for CGI, please, for the love of God, don’t use it at all!

06. Dracula dead and loving it. I don’t understand vampire movies that are supposed to be funny. I mean first Eddy Murphy as vampire and now Leslie Nielson. That guy is never funny! Give me horror, blood, romance and/or sex, but not comedy in my vampire movies.

05. Dracula 2000. Don’t understand this movie. There are some good parts in it. I love the whole Mary and Dracula mind melting thing, and I love there explanation about where vampires come from. But there is some serious bad acting in it. The characters are not properly cast, hate it.

04. Blade trinity. Why is this movie ever been made? Loved blade 1, sort of loved blade 2. Please burn all copies of blade 3. Blade against Dracula, yeah right. And will some one please give back Ryan Renolds old job in that pizza place.

03. From dusk till dawn 3. Again people. If a movie is great, just make one movie, or maybe 2. But stop with these shitty trilogy’s. Vampires and westerns also don’t match well.

02. Let the right one in (original). I watched the original movie in Swedish (thank God for subtitles) and this is some sort of art house movie. Strange, very strange. I get the idea, but the movie is terribly slow and I had to watch it in multiple sittings, because I kept falling asleep. Not a good thing in a vampire movie.

01. Dracula 3000. Vampires in space and Coolio as crazy vampire. That’s all I have to say for it. Figure it out.

I need your help my lovely geeks. First of all, I need more ideas for the top 10 on Thursday. Second, I am looking for a second blogger for my blog. A nice hot cut and girly geek who wants to write about the same stuff I do. So if you are interested or know someone who is interested, just let me know.

Love, your hot cute girly geek!
