Hi my name is Mendy, I’m 30 years old, a Sagittarius, I like long walks on the beach and… oh wait, wrong introduction.
Hi I’m Mendy, 30, single, live in the Netherlands together with my lovely cat Sir James in a nice family home, owned by myself (well, actually most of it belongs to the bank) I’m a social worker who works with drug addicts and homeless people by day and a geek, avid blogger and aspiring author by heart. At work when it comes to computers, I am the IT guy. Someday I hope to turn my Bachelor degree Social Work into a Masters degree, when I have enough time, money and energy for it. And I also hope to get one of my stories published (as soon as I finished writing them). What else do you want to know? I speak fluently Dutch (well duh) as well as English, I can do a bit of Dutch Sign language, and I also speak a bit of French and Germen, although I understand it better then actually speaking it. I know about 6 words in Russian.
I love to read, write and watch movies and TV series. Everything to do with sci-fi, fantasy and other geeky stuff. I love to blog, write, bake and create. I actually can cook really well, according to friends and family. Making yummy cupcakes is one of my passions. If you wake me up at 3 am I will kill you, even if you bring chocolate offerings. My current geeky obsessions on TV are Doctor Who, Sherlock (damn you Moffat!) Torchwood, Supernatural, Lost Girl, Once Upon a Time, Teen Wolf, the Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, just about every movie and TV series made about vampires, and loads more. The fact that I have more than 200 DVD’s says enough (don’t get me started on my external hard drive). Saying that, I hate the fact that I live in the Netherlands. We have to wait ages for any good series to come on TV.
I enjoy spending time with friends, chatting, fangirling, geeking out, eating dinner, playing board games, skypeing. If I ever win the lottery I will visit all my lovely friends that don’t live in the Netherlands. (Note to self, must not forget to buy a ticket).
The stories I write myself are about vampires (sorry, bit of an obsession) although not the sparkly vegetarian kind. I like my monsters to be monsters, thank you very much. But I do enjoy the romantic aspect of it.
You can try to bribe me with chocolate (not the normal chocolate bars) especially m&m’s with peanuts, nacho cheese Doritos, homemade sticky brownies without nuts, a proper cup of dark English tea with honey, a nice cuddle, or giving me geeky presents. I do not however respond well to puppy dog eyes.
I currently have 3 tattoos, 9 piercings in my ears and one in my tongue.
My favourite books are the Anita Blake and Merry Gentry series by Laurell K. Hamilton, just about everything Robin Hobb wrote, again everything to do with vampires, I bow down to the ultimate vampire queen Anne Rice, Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit (I love the movies as well), the LonTobyn Chronicles by David B. Coe, of course the Harry Potter books, the Watch tetralogy by Sergey Lukyanenko (the movies are great to). The Sevenwater books by Julliet Marilier, the Wolfking by Bridgit Wood, Kushiels Legacy and other adaptations that followed that trilogy by Jacqueline Carey, The Game of Thrones books by George RR Martin and much, much more. At the moment I have over 700 books stored in my house and the collection is still growing and those are just the actual books, I also own an e-reader.
Writing reviews, blogging about it and vlogging about it is one of the things I love to do. Not only for my own enjoyment, but also to try to geekify the world and get more girls/women into enjoying these things.
After my elaborate about piece, if you still have any questions, you know how to contact me.
Love, your own hot cute girly geek Mendy.
If you want me to do a review about your book, that is possible. You can contact me using the form below. Please be sure to provide me with the book in question, either a hard copy or an epub version.
If you want me to host a giveway, that is also possible. Again, use the contact form and be sure to provide me with the needed information for the giveway and the stuff you want to give away.
I have a couple of guestbloggers hosted on my blog. If you feel like you have something to say about anything geeky, or something is seriously missing on my blog and you can provide it, you can contact me about it and we’ll discuss if you want to do a single post or a more permanent spot.
I’m looking for an artist who can create a new avatar for my blog. Reward??? My eternal gratefulness and a thank you and a permanent link to your own creative site/blog/devian-art/etc. It needs to be something that represents me and my blog. If you’re feeling up for the challenge, contact me.
If you have any comments about my blog, but you think it isn’t fitting as a reply for any of the posts or you’d like to be anonymous, use the contact form below.
