New series review: Wynonna Earp

Hi my hot cute girly geeks and boy geeks. Today I will be reviewing Wynonna Earp, or at least the couple of episodes that have been aired up until now (that’s just 4!!!).

Wynonna-Earp

I’m always on the look-out for new series to watch, yep, I have no life, at least not a social one (well, a partially social life). And this time I stumbled upon Wynonna Earp. Or as I call it, hopefully the female version of Supernatural, set in the Wild Wild West if Jo was still alive.

Wynonna Earp is brought to you by the syfy channel and it has that same feeling as a lot of their series. I don’t know what that is, but if you’ve been watching a lot of series you immediately can tell if it’s produced by syfy, or CW or HBO or any other network.

Wynonna_Earp_06

Originally starting out as a comic book series and riding the success of the Marvel / DC brought to our screens. It specifies as an Action/Western/Fantasy/Horror series. Yep….

According to IMDB: Based on the IDW Comic, Wynonna Earp follows Wyatt Earp’s great granddaughter as she battles demons and other creatures. With her unique abilities, and a posse of dysfunctional allies, she’s the only thing that can bring the paranormal to justice.

But like I said before, it feels like the female version of Supernatural, only the sisters don’t travel cross-country but stay in Purgatory, the town, not the gateway to Hell.

I mean, there is Wynonna herself, leather jacket wearing, drinking, swearing, bad-ass with a gun, older sister coming back to her hometown where just about everyone hates her. She lost her father (shot him) and her sister, has a nasty prophecy hanging above her head and a special gun that can kill demons! Oh and she is trying to protect her still alive sister. (Dean)

And we have Waverly, the younger sister, trying to bad-ass herself, bit of a dork, super smart, speaks Latin, does a lot of research, had an imaginary friend called Bobo, and wants nothing more than help big sis killing demons. (Sam)

Dominique_Provost-Chalkley_wynonnaearp_1-1

Agent Dolls, bit of a mystery man, can get his hands on some really old, creepy occult objects, knows his occult stuff, trying to teach Wynonna how to kill demons and other monsters and how to shoot. Doesn’t take shit from no-one but somehow will protect the girls. (Bobby)

WynonnaEarp_Blog_101_04

Doc Holliday, once a good-guy, now we don’t know yet, seems to be working for both parties, the good and the evil side, old but still good looking, there is some tension between him and Wynonna and you’re constantly wondering if she is gonna kill him or f*ck him. (Cas)

And we have demons, not the black-eyed ones but these have red eyes, are stuck in Purgatory, again the town and trying to get out before Wynonna kills them with her special gun. If they are killed they get sucked back into hell, looks pretty cool.

So, we’re four episodes in and I kinda like it. It’s funny, I like strong female leads, it reminds me of Supernatural, I don’t know, it appeals to me for some reason.

Have you seen it? What are your thoughts? And no I haven’t read the comics so no spoilers!!!

Supernatural season 4, the road so far!!!

Hi hot cute girly geeks and boys of mine. Here is a review about Supernatural season 4, and wow, it is a very good one, we’re gonna meet a lot of interesting… people, and… spoilers.

We left season 3 with Dean going to hell. Oh no, not Dean, not death, can’t process this, too much pain.. But wait there is someone or something coming and its Castiel, or Cas as we like to call him.

Castiel is played by the oh so hot Misha Collins. Who is a nut job in real life, but I love him anyway. I’m also a proud Misha minion and not afraid to say it. He goofs around a lot on the internet and got his minions to break a Guinness book world record by letting us compete in the greatest international scavenger hunt the world has ever seen, also known as Gishwhes. And he also does great charity works for Random acts by building homes for Haiti, after the big earthquake.

So Dean wakes up in a coffin after 4 months in hell, and drags himself out of it. Not knowing what happened he finds Bobby and gets reunited with Sam, after some tests to find out Dean isn’t a monster of some sorts. They decide to get some help from Pamela a psychic, because Dean is being followed by an entity. They find out a name, Castiel and Pamela is being a little to nosey and get’s her eyes burned out. Meanwhile Sam hooked up with Ruby again, now being played by Gen (his wife, although not at the time, duh) and he is drinking demon blood again, getting so powerful he can exorcise demons without killing the host  bodies. (oh boy, that’s not good). Dean and Bobby try to summon the thing Castiel and find out he’s actually an angel, wearing a trench coat.

It also appears that a lot of events happing this season are being connected with the 66 seals on Lucifer’s cage. And these seals are breaking fast. It’s Lilith’s big plan, breaking the seals and freeing Lucifer from his cage in Hell so he can rule the earth and mankind, after what’s left of it after the apocalypse.

Dean get’s send back to the past, where he meets a young Mary Campbell, his mom, and her parents. And a young John Winchester, his dad. Funny fact, he convinces his dad to buy the Chevy impala, baby, instead of a nice save family van (thank God for that). He learns that his mom and granddad are hunters and that Mary made a deal with Azazel.

An awesome episode is the 6th one, Yellow Fever, where people are being infected with fear. Seeing the super masculine Dean scream like a little girl is priceless. Also, after this episode, there is a funny video of Jensen doing the eye of the tiger, here’s a YouTube link: http://youtu.be/Cb3G5Qj_Lo8 I swear, I can never listen to this song again with a straight face.

We also meet another demon in this season, Alastair, and he is the demon who tortured Dean in Hell. He tries to break another couple of seals in order to help free Lucifer and is eventually captured by Castiel and Uriel, another angel. They ask Dean to torture him in order to get some information. He doesn’t break and escapes. And the boys find out that Uriel is behind this and the killing of Angels. Sam eventually kills Alastair with his power, but the boys find out that Dean is responsible for breaking the first seal back in Hell. He was being tortured every day and given a choice. The torture stops, if he tortures other souls. Apparently one month on earth feels like 10 years in hell and Dean gave in after 40 years, just before he is rescued, and can you blame him?

Another fun episode is number 18, the monster at the end of this book, where Sam and Dean find out there are books called Supernatural and are about them and their adventures in monster hunting. They find the author who writes these and it turns out he is a prophet, getting visions about the boys lives and what happens next.

Finally Bobby and Dean decide to have a demon intervention with Sam and lock him in Bobby’s basement to get him to detox from the demon blood. Which leaves Sam and Dean in a great fight and they decide to go their separate ways.

The apocalypse is coming and almost all the seals are broken. Sam goes back to Ruby and fills himself with demon blood, in order to be strong enough to kill Lilith and stop the apocalypse and Lucifer rising. Dean is being kidnapped by angels, because, apparently, the apocalypse can’t be stopped and he is suppose to be Michaels vessel, the archangel and destined to kill Lucifer. Sam on the other hand is the perfect vessel for Lucifer. With the help of Castiel, Dean escapes. Dean also learns that by killing Lilith the final seal will be broken and he tries to stop Sam in time, but Ruby interferes. Sam kills Lilith and Ruby reveals she has been a double agent all along, helping Lilith and guiding Sam to the final blow. Dean kills Ruby, but it’s too late, the seals are broken and Lucifer is coming out of his cage.

What happens next, you have to see for yourself in season 5 of Supernatural.

I hope you enjoyed my review, I rate it 9 out of 10.

Supernatural season 3, the road so far!!!

Hi hot cute girly (and boy) geeks of mine. Long due was a review about season 3 of Supernatural, with spoilers of course.

The previous season ended with opening a gateway to Hell. A lot of demons escaped and this season is about hunting down a lot of them. Unfortunately, this is a short season, only 16 episodes, due to the writhers strike back in 2007-2008. But 16 is better than none.

The boys have only a year left, till Deans pact with the crossroads demon ends and his soul ends up in hell, also they have to put back as many demons, which escaped hells gate, as they can. And in the first episode, when the boys fight the seven sins, in the form of devils, they get help by a demon, named Ruby.

Ruby is played by Katie Cassidy in this season. Because she is a demon, the producers of Supernatural can cast different girls to play Ruby and she will eventually be played by Genevieve Padalecki.  Gen is now married in real life with Jared Padalecki (on February 27th 2010) and they have a son together, Thomas Colton Padalecki, born march 19th this year, they affectionately refer to him as their demon baby.

But as I was saying, blond demon Ruby, turns out to be a big help for the Winchester boys. She has a knife which kills demons instantly, unfortunately also kills their human meat sacks. And throughout the season she pops in to help the boys.

Dean is living carefree at the moment. He knows he can’t weasel his way out of the deal so his does everything to live his life to the fullest. Drinking more, eating more bacon burgers and sleeping around more. Sam is bugged by his brother’s attitude and is still trying to find a way out of the deal. Dean decides he want to pay Lisa a visit. Lisa is a former ex-girlfriend of his, which he has not seen in about 9 years. When he arrives at her door, a party is going on. Lisa’s son Ben is having his birthday and is turning 8. And scary as it is, it’s a mini-Dean. Dean figures this out also and does the math. But Lisa explains Ben isn’t his son. Although this being said. I still wonder. Maybe Lisa is lying, but we will never find out. I still believe, till this day that Ben is his son, but Lisa lied to him.

In this season we also get to meet Bela Talbot, being played by Lauren Cohen, and we also know her from the Vampire Diaries as Rose and from the Walking Dead as farmer’s daughter Maggie. She plays a sort of supernatural antiquities hunter and being a big pain in the ass for the boys. She really kicks ass in this role!

Because Deans time is still running out, he starts teaching Sam how to fix baby, his Chevy Impala, and we also get a Christmas episode with a lot of flashbacks in Sam and Deans past, so we learn a great deal more about the boys and how they come to be the way they are.

And then there is my least favorite episode. The Mystery spot. Although it’s a lot of fun, its Supernatural’s Groundhog Day. I find the way they kill of Dean in various ways very funny, but how I hate the song Heat of the moment by Asia because of this episode. It turns out that the trickster is behind all this. Making Sam re-live Dean’s death a hundred times, just so the boys learn a lesson. They are each others Achilles heel.

Episode 12 Jus in Bello is an important one. The boys show off their anti-possessing tattoos (the one I’m getting in June, me is a very happy fan girl) and they try to get the colt back from Bela. But Bella sold it and she tipped of the FBI for the boys, they are wanted for numerous crimes. Ruby also steps in and reveals Lilith is after the Winchesters also. Lilith being the big bad leader in hell at this time and she is going to play a major role the next season.

In the 15th episode, they investigate a case where a doctor seems to have the eternal life. Sam thinks this is the way for Dean to get out of his deal, but in order to do so, they have to kill innocent people and Dean doesn’t want this. Dean finds out where Bela is, with the help from Bobby and learns that Bela made a deal with Lilith 10 years ago. She let the demon murder her parents, because she was abused by her father and her mother didn’t do anything about it. Bela tried to get out of the deal in return for the colt, she didn’t sell it after all, but it wasn’t enough and this episode ends with Bela hearing the howling of the Hellhounds in order to collect her soul.

And the last episode of this season. Dean has 30 hours left before the hellhounds collect their bounty and the boys try to track down Lilith. Hoping they can kill her so the deal is off. It turns out Lilith is eventually in Ruby’s body. She tries to kill Sam, but somehow, her powers don’t affect him and the boys are out of time. Dean is being killed off by hellhounds and the season ends with Dean in hell, strung up by chains and meat hooks. How is he going to escape this one???

Although the season is a short one I absoluty love it. I love Dean’s kid Ben, even if he isn’t his kid, or is he? Dean going on a, I only have a year to live, rampage. Doing everything he wishes. The first sign of the tattoo. Ruby playing the sort of good demon.  Can demons even be good? And Bela’s superb roll. The ending was gruesome, with Dean hanging in hell, covert in blood, screaming for his brother.

It gives a great inside in the boys and lays a superb path for the next season with Lilith as the big bad evil bitch from hell.

So it’s another must see season and please do so, let me know what you think about it.

Rating 9 out of 10 again.

Supernatural season 2, the road so far!!!

Hi hot, cute, girly (and boy) geeks of mine.

Like I said in my previous post about Supernatural, I’m a big fan. I’m currently re-watching all episodes so I can blog about it. And of course because I love to re-watch all the episodes again.  And I’m down to season 4 at the moment, but I owed you a blog about season 2.

The first season ended where Sam, Dean and John where in a huge car crash. They are rushed to the hospital and Dean is in a coma. It is his time to die and his reaper is following him to let go of life and die. But Sam finds out he is still around and eventually John decides to offer his life for Deans in a deal with the yellow eyed demon.

So they are now even more determent to hunt the demon down. They get help from Ellen, Jo and Ash and we see the first of Bobby. Bobby is also a hunter and kept an eye out for the boys when they grew up. He keeps them under his wing and helps Dean and Sam solving cases as a kind of bad ass supernatural librarian who can kill demons and other supernatural creepy things. I love Bobby. He’s like the cool uncle you never had, but wish you did.

Taking a small detour we also run into some vampires, and there is one vampire I like a lot. Lenore played by Amber Benson, also known as Tara from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. And I love her in this role.

Finally they find out that the yellow eyed demon, who has a name by now: Azazel has more murders on his name. He corrupted more children with demon blood, like Sam, and like Sam they also have some kind of supernatural ability. Throughout the season we meet more of these kids.

We also get to meet the trickster. And the reason I mention him, is because we are going to see more of him in the other seasons. A trickster is a demi-god who can manipulate reality and has as soft spot for sweets, what turns out to be a giveaway in another episode in another season.

In the last two episodes, things get disturbing. Azazel kidnaps Sam and takes him and the other “special” children to an abandoned town. When Dean finds out Sam is missing he goes to the roadhouse for help, only to find it burned down to the ground with Ash his body in it. But no sign of Ellen and Jo. Then he turns to Bobby for help. And Dean gets a vision on where to find Sam.

Sam got one of the other kids to project this vision to Dean in order to help them. One by one, the kids get slaughtered and Sam finds out why. Azazel visits him in a dream and tells him he needs a leader for his army of demons. And the remaining kid gets to lead the army. Of course we all thought Sam would win, but he gets killed in the end.

But with one more episode remaining, Dean strikes a deal with a crossroad demon for Sam to get back from the dead. Normally, a deal with a crossroads demon will cost you your soul and you get 10 years more of living, but not Dean, he gets 1 year total. He takes the deal and Sam is back with the living. They hunt down the remaining kid and team up with Bobby and Ellen, who apparently survived the fire of the roadhouse.

Before Ash died he found out that Samuel Colt build a giant demon trap in Wyoming, using railway lines. And in the middle of it, it’s a gateway to Hell. The surviving kid, Jake, uses the colt to open the gateway, releasing hundred of demons, and big surprise John Winchester. John helps Sam and Dean into defeating Azazel and shutting the gateway to Hell. John’s spirit moves on and the Winchester boys are ready for another season of hunting, getting the escaped demons back to Hell

Oh how I loved this second season, Sam dying, Dean dying, both getting back, vampires, demons, guns and Bobby. This one is a classic.

Oh and in other good news, I am busy making plans to getting my Supernatural tattoo. I contacted a tattoo shop in Paris, where I’m going next month, to find out how much it’s going to cost me and everything. I keep you updated.

To wrap things up. I rate the season a 9 out of 10, again, and urge you to go watch it, if you aren’t already a Supernatural addict.

Love, your hot cute girly geek.

Supernatural season 1, the road so far.

Hi hot, cute girly (and boy) geeks of mine. As promised a review of Supernatural season 1.

As you all might, or might not now, I’m a huge Supernatural fan. When I first stumbled on the series I was zapping trough my TV channels because I couldn’t sleep. Supernatural was playing, season episode 4. And I trough it was scary. So I zapped right past it. But then I was still curious, and zapped back. I watched the episode further and I thought it was something I would like. The next day I turned on my computer and downloaded the first season. And it was epic! I loved the Winchesters, the demon hunting, the fun jokes in between. I downloaded the remaining seasons and I was hooked.

Now I follow the actors on twitter, I participated in Gishwhes, look up stuff on superwiki, http://www.supernaturalwiki.com/index.php?title=Main_Page , can’t even think straight when I hear the Eye of the Tiger playing on the radio, did an epic happy dance when Supernatural got renewed for season 8, and even thinking about getting a supernatural tattoo as my next one.  So yeah, I’m addicted to Supernatural and proud of it!

Without further ado, here is my review of Supernatural season 1. Oh and spoiler alert!

What I loved about the first season is that the episodes are about a lot of urban legends. You know the stories and they are great. Supernatural just gives its own twist about it. We start of in 1983 (omg the year I was born in) where Sam and Dean’s mother is getting killed by a yellow eyed demon.  And we skip a few years. Turns out Sam and Dean where being dragged through the country by their father, hunting demons and monsters and hunting this yellow eyed demon. Sam took a break from hunting and went back to school, dating and having a life actually, while Dean keeps hunting with their dad, John Winchester. Dean finally finds Sam, because their dad is missing on a “hunting” trip. And Sam being a good son helps Dean hunting their dad.

They  don’t find their dad, but a trail leads them back at Lawrence Kansas where Sam witness his girlfriend being killed exactly the same way his mother died. So he decides to take a year off of school and help Dean further in their mission to find their dad and killing monsters along the way.

They finally find their dad and team up in order to find the yellow eyed demon. It turns out that Sam has some psychic abilities in the form of visions. But Sam and Dean decide to tell no-one, because the other hunters might think Sam is a monster and hunt him.

We also get to meet Jo and Ellen in this first season. Ellen was married to a hunter and Jo being her daughter, they run the roadhouse bar, a hideout for other hunters and Ash. A redneck kinda super IT guy. All three of them decide to help the brothers in their quest for answers.

They also find out that the only thing to kill the yellow-eyed demon is a colt, made by Samuel Colt, a hunter in his times. And they now have it.

The season ends with Sam, Dean and John being in the car and having a crazy accident, where they get hit by a truck, while the truck driver is possessed by a demon.

I don’t know if this is a good recap of the first season. But for those who don’t watch Supernatural yet, I hope this makes you curious enough to go watch it!

If you watched the other seasons like me and are rewatching them again, you’ll notice that some things being said in the first couple of seasons are being used in the other season, like unicorns farting rainbows. Oh god, I cracked up, when Dean said this.

Another thing I am crazy about is all the 80’s rock music Deans listens to. I love 80’s rock music. The series is not all demon hunting and scary things. It’s actually funny too. Dean with his smartass remarks and the bitchfighting between Sam and Dean while driving their car. Oh and their car, the 1967 Chevy Impala, also knows as baby. There is a whole subcultural fanbase about baby going on, on twitter.

So, I rate this series with a 9 out of 10, and urge you all to go see it. Buy the DVD’s download it, watch it on TV, I don’t care, just watch it.

Love, your hot, cute, girly geek.
